Dublin Theatre Festival | Corporate Development & Marketing Executive

Dublin Theatre Festival is currently seeking to recruit a dynamic, experienced, and enthusiastic person to fulfil a new full-time, 2-year contract role of Corporate Development & Marketing Executive from June 2017. The successful candidate will be target-driven, with the ability to inspire others to commit to and support the Festival. They will be part of a team responsible for driving revenue from corporate sources, stewarding and maintaining relationships, and building the Festival’s support base through their networking and partnership abilities. This position has been created with the support of Business to Arts and Dublin City Council’s Dublin Culture Connects as part of the Fundraising Fellowship Dublin programme.

Hours:                      Usually office hours 40 hours Monday – Friday, including lunch,                                    with flexibility at evenings and weekends during 3 week festival                                    period

Remuneration:         €30,000

Reporting to:            Marketing and Development Manager

Probation:                6 months

Purpose and Scope of the Post

The Corporate Development and Marketing Executive will be a key member of Dublin Theatre Festival’s overall administrative team, working closely with the Marketing and Development Manager to promote Dublin Theatre Festival, and generate income through commercial sponsorship, philanthropic giving, and to expand the Festival’s network within the corporate sector.

The role requires attendance at evening and weekend events, at performances during the festival and at any other functions or events at which representation of the festival is appropriate.  Some travel may be required from time to time.  The position works as part of the wider Marketing and Development team to support and enhance corporate sponsor, Friend and patron initiatives, to manage special projects and to undertake other additional duties as assigned.

The Corporate Development and Marketing Executive will also be required to participate in what is a new and very exciting initiative, with the Fundraising Fellowship, Dublin programme of activity between June 2017 and May 2019. This will require the Fellow’s attendance at various workshops, training, and mentoring sessions with Business to Arts and their partners. The Fellowship aims to enhance long-term careers in fundraising and development for the Irish cultural sector.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Corporate Development & Marketing Executive span many areas including relationship management, institutional marketing, digital marketing, event management, sponsorship cultivation and activation. Specifically, they are:

Development

  • Assisting and supporting the Marketing and Development Manager to implement the Development Plan
  • Developing target lists and other collateral for use in prospecting for corporate sponsors, friends, and patrons
  • Identifying, brokering and converting new corporate sponsors and members with the Marketing and Development Manager
  • Assisting in servicing relationships and acting as a point of contact for  funders, corporate sponsors, Friends and patrons
  • Drafting and preparing sponsorship, patron, friend and other fundraising proposals, applications and reports
  • Working closely with other departments to obtain information and feedback on proposals, applications and reports
  • Creating correspondence with donors, funders and sponsors
  • Organising, attending and preparing reports for the Board Development Sub-Committee meetings
  • Managing sales and revenue targets for the gala benefit night
  • Managing sales and achieving revenue targets for advertising within Festival show programmes
  • Working with the wider team on the distribution of tickets, letters, etc. to the Friends /corporate Friends/sponsors
  • Event Management for various events as required by sponsors and funders of the festival

Marketing

  • Assisting and supporting the Marketing and Development Manager to implement the Marketing Plan
  • Assisting with the development and production of print material including marketing material, event collateral, and other (e.g. proof reading, gathering quotes, print management, liaising with suppliers)
  • Implementing a variety of online marketing activities aimed at engaging new audiences and new corporate supporters for the Festival. To include:
  • Communicating and engaging with audiences online, coordinating the festival’s social media profile and managing online platforms
  • Co-ordinating the website management using the festival’s content management system Audience View
  • Assisting with the development and execution of e-communications using mailing software i.e. MailChimp
  • Assisting with the delivery of advertising and promotional campaigns
  • Build on the Festival’s national and international reputation
  • Monitoring and evaluating all media coverage for the Festival and its donors, funders and sponsors

General

  • Providing administrative support
  • Representing the Festival at events when required
  • Working with the Festival’s PR agency to promote the Festival both nationally and internationally
  • Database management including maintenance and the generation of targeted lists for marketing communications, development opportunities and event invitations
  • Developing and enhancing relationships with a portfolio of suppliers, sponsors and other stakeholders
  • Tracking and reporting on marketing and development activity
  • Any other duties that may be specified and agreed with the Marketing and Development Manager

Core Competencies

  • A third level degree
  • Approximately three years’ experience working in marketing and/or fundraising
  • Excellent writing skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong research skills, presentation skills, excellent organisational, communication skills and high proficiency in IT programmes and across all social media platforms
  • The ability to think strategically
  • The ability to manage relationships and projects at different stages of development and scale, with a variety of timelines
  • Proven commercial and fundraising achievements
  • Knowledge of the performing arts, specifically theatre

Role KPIs

  • Research and develop new Fundraising strategies to achieve agreed targets which include €20,000 in new (cash) income year 1, and € 40,000 new (cash) income year 2
  • Increase the combined social media audience by 10% year on year across all channels and platforms

Type of Contract

Two year fixed term contract.  Annual renewable subject to review with the Artistic Director/CEO and the Marketing and Development Manager.

Remuneration

€30,000 per annum, pro rata with an annual review should fundraising targets be exceeded.

Probation

There will be an initial probationary period of six months including a review the Artisitic Director/ CEO and the Marketing and Development Manager.

Hours of Work

The post is full-time working 40 hours per week, with an hour for lunch daily.  The Corporate Development and Marketing Executive will be required to work outside these hours including evenings and weekends during the Festival.  No overtime is payable but time off in lieu is given to all full-time staff over the Christmas/New Year period.

Holidays

The Corporate Development and Marketing Executive is entitled to twenty-one days leave annually in addition to statutory and public holidays.  Holidays are taken by prior arrangement with the Marketing and Development Manager and must be taken by the end of February of the following year and cannot be accrued for future years.

Benefits

A pension scheme is offered to all core staff after a minimum of 12 months continuous employment.  An amount equalling any contributions made by the employee is payable by the employer up to and including 5% of gross salary.
