Social and Digital Marketing Intern

As BACKUP’s Social & Digital Marketing Intern, you will be working cross-functionally across different discipline teams, but report directly to the agency’s Head of Social. Part of this job requires functioning in a lean startup environment, in which you may have the opportunity flex your brain and solve user problems potentially outside your area of expertise.
This opportunity is rare, in that it will have you working as a peer alongside the agency’s most senior team, including the Head of Social, Head of Creative and Director of Operations.

  • Undergraduate degree specialising in Digital Marketing, Social Media, PR or a digital media field
  • You have experience managing social media channels for businesses or communities
  • You have experience working in agency environments
  • You have a foundational understanding of online ad exchanges, Adwords or Facebook Advertising
  • You’ve managed a business or community’s SEO, or you have a portfolio of SEO-focused content writing
  • You have experience in an Art Director role in a project or team,
  • You have formal experience in project management, whether that’s Scrum, Agile, Sigma or your own sprint-planning techniques
  • You have experience with CMS tools, social publishing tools or digital analytics


  • Working with the Head of Social to plan and curate web and social content calendars for different businesses across various platforms
  • Writing blog content, newsletters and customer updates
  • Running and maintaining small social, digital and search media spends
  • Working with the Creative team to compose assets for campaigns and projects
  • Working with Customer Experience experts to find new ways to survey markets and gather insights on user experience across web and social platforms
  • A valuable and respected contributor and brain to lend perspective to various parts of the business


  • Training on advertising technology and strategies, including hands-on opportunities
  • Training from project managers on how to build frameworks for success
  • Ownership of several publishing channels
